PBM Centers of Excellence
Founded in 2024 by Doctor Thomas Breuneval, an eminent Swiss radiation oncologist,the PBM Center in Montreux was born from the conviction that photobiomodulation can transform healthcare.
After years of research and clinical experience, Doctor Thomas Breuneval has opened the PBM Center to bring this revolutionary therapy to as many people as possible, offering a non-invasive alternative for the management of side effects of oncological treatments, pain, inflammation, scars as well as musculoskeletal rehabilitation, brain diseases and general well-being.
The Center of Excellence for Photobiomodulation at Shepherd University opened its doors on March 21, 2022, with two days of informational seminars to educate health professionals, scientists, and lawmakers on Photobiomodulation (PBM) as a clinical treatment for a variety of diseases and conditions that lack effective treatment today.
The PBM Center of Excellence will serve as a hub for conducting and sharing research on the use of PBM for treating a variety of medical conditions and for promoting wellness.

Shepherd University is expanding its profile as a research institution, and in cooperation with the PBM Foundation is pleased and privileged to have established relationships with leading research scientists in the field of Photobiomodulation (PBM). These outstanding individuals will have a continuing relationship with the University as Adjunct Research Professors, allowing them to conduct research work in the natural sciences fields as part of the Shepherd faculty.
